Piecemakers

One of the church mission projects is quilting. Actually, we do more "tacking" than quilting. Quilting is a dying art in today's world, but most of us watched our mother and grandmother make one beautiful quilt after another. It is such a great feeling to cut pieces of fabric and sew them together to make a quilt that is one of a kind. In our opinion, quilts are like babies - they are all beautiful!
Most of the quilts we make are lap throws, although we have made a number of full size quilts. We started this ministry to provide lap throws for people in nursing homes, but we have reached a number of people with our quilts. We sent one to an orphan in Ukraine. Another one was made from quilt blocks that the women of our church made at least 40 years ago. And another one went to our wounded military personnel.
And there are no excuses - everyone can tack. If you can tie a knot, you can help us make a quilt. We would love for you to join us - we always have fun talking and visiting with each other while we tack.
